happy Start to explore Hidden Places in Rishikesh

My adventure kicked off suddenly on a misty morning. while having a cup of tea after my yoga lesson on the Ganges when I started talking to a fellow traveler called Ravi. He was a seasoned Rishikesh explorer and seemed to know the city like the back of his hand. When I expressed my wish to discover the less-known places in Rishikesh, his eyes lit up with excitement.

Neer Garh Waterfall: Nature’s Hidden Oasis

starting with Neer Garh waterfall, a hidden treasure located a few kilometers away from the bustling Laxman Jhula. The trek to the waterfall itself was an adventure, winding through dense forests and crossing small streams. As we approached the waterfall, the sound of cascading water grew louder, and soon, a stunning view greeted us.

Neer Garh waterfall is not a single waterfall, it has multiple waterfalls that form natural pools at different levels. The crystal-clear water was inviting, and we couldn’t resist taking a refreshing dip. Surrounded by lush greenery and the soothing sound of water, it felt like we had stepped into a hidden paradise.

The Enchanting Beatles Ashram

Next on our plan was the Beatles Ashram, also known as the Chaurasi Kutia. This wild ashram gained fame when the Beatles stayed here in 1968, seeking spiritual guidance and writing some of their iconic songs. Although it’s now in ruins, the ashram exudes a mystical charm. The walls are decorate with vibrant graffiti and murals, transforming the place into an open-air art gallery..

Walking through the ashram, I could almost hear the faint echoes of the Beatles’ music. Each corner seemed to tell a story of its own, and the serene surroundings made it a perfect spot for reflection and introspection.

Vashishta Cave: A Spiritual Retreat

Leaving the Beatles Ashram, Ravi suggested we visit the Vashishta Cave, another hidden gem often overlooked by tourists. According to legend, the sage Vashishta meditated here, making it a place of immense spiritual significance.

The cave is a small, dimly lit chamber that exudes tranquility. As I sat inside, I could feel a deep sense of calm enveloping me. The energy of the place was palpable, and it was easy to understand why sages chose this cave for meditation. Outside, the Ganges flowed serenely, adding to the spiritual ambiance of the location.

Patna Waterfall: A Hidden Gem

Another lesser-known marvel we visited was the Patna Waterfall. Unlike Neer Garh, Patna Waterfall is more secluded and requires a bit of effort to reach. The trek to the waterfall is an adventure in itself, taking us through rugged terrain and thick forests.

The waterfall, though smaller in size, is incredibly picturesque. The cool, pristine water flows down a rocky cliff into a serene pool below. The surrounding area is teeming with butterflies and exotic birds, making it a paradise for nature lovers. We spent hours here, simply soaking in the natural beauty and enjoying the peaceful solitude.

Kunja Puri Temple: A Sunrise Spectacle

One of the highlights of my journey was the early morning trek to Kunja Puri Temple. The temple provides a amazing views of the mountains and the Ganges, which flow the mountain 1,650 meters above sea level.

We started our trek before dawn, navigating through the dark with the help of flashlights. As we reached the temple, the first rays of the sun began to illuminate the sky. Watching the sunrise from Kunja Puri Temple was a surreal experience. The sky transformed into a canvas of vibrant colors, and the tranquil atmosphere of the temple added to the magic.

Exploring the Lesser-Known Cafes

Rishikesh is also home to several hidden cafes that offer a perfect blend of tranquility and taste. Away from the crowded streets, these cafes provide a cozy atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy delicious food.

One such place is the Ganga Beach Cafe, tucked away near the banks of the Ganges. With its laid-back vibe and stunning river views, it quickly became my favorite spot. Sipping on a cup of freshly brewed coffee while watching the river flow by was a delightful experience.

Another gem is the Little Buddha Cafe, located close to Laxman Jhula but hidden away from the main road. The cafe’s treehouse-style seating and eclectic menu make it a great place to unroll and taste some delicious dishes.

Triveni Ghat: The Lesser-Known Evening Aarti

While the evening aarti at Triveni Ghat is a popular attraction. If you coming early, you can witness the preparations for the Aarti and even participate in the rituals.

As the sun sets, the ghat transforms into a spiritual haven. The chants and hymns reverberate through the air, creating an atmosphere of devotion and serenity.

The Unseen Beauty of Rajaji National Park

We visited Rajaji National Park, located outside of Rishikesh, to complete our tour of hidden places in Rishikesh. It is well-known for its wide range and diversity, there are some areas which remain unexplored.

We embarked on a jeep safari that took us deep into the heart of the park. The dense forest, with its towering trees and winding trails, felt like a world away from the bustling city.
